Tamane's main duty is patrolling the paint. She is a solid defender both in one-on-one and help situations. A good rebounder, she cherishes that role and exploits it to the fullest but she can surprise both teammates and rivals with good shooting from mid-range, too. In 2006, the 1.95m centre became the first Latvian to play in the WNBA, making it in to the Washington Mystics' roster. Since returning to Europe, she has improved step by step. During the Beijing Olympic Games, she averaged 5.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Tamane played last year in Nadezhda Orenburg, Russia, where she averaged 11.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.0 blocked shots per game in the EuroLeague Women.
