Tare has played more than 100 games for her country (104 as of the summer of 2007). She honed her game at the Jurmala Basketball Club, which was coached by present-day National Team coach Ainars Zvirgzdins. In the early 90’s the Riga native was one of the brightest prospects in Latvian basketball and won the European Cadet Championship in 1991 with the USSR. Unfortunately some injuries have meant her career at the highest club level has been slow to materialize but she has been an irreplaceable part of the National Team. In the autumn of 2006 she became a mother but at the end of the 2007 season the 33-year-old came back to the court and won the Latvian title with TTT Riga, playing 28 minutes per game and averaging 11.8 points per contest in the playoffs.
