 | | | 01.09.2007 | Poland rolled to their second straight victory in the additional qualifying tournament, a 95-54 Group A triumph over Slovenia.
Fresh off their midweek come-from-behind win at Finland, the confident Poles encountered some resistance for the first five minutes of the game with Katja Temnik's lay-up for Slovenia leaving the visitors trailing, 16-14.
Elzbieta Miedzik, who had a game-high 27 points, replied with a shot from the arc to spark the home side on a 23-4 run that buried the Slovenians.
The Polish were in total command for the remainder of the game.
Miedzik made six of seven (85.7%) shots from three-point range and seven of nine overall from the floor.
At the charity stripe, she was also an efficient seven of eight (87.5%).
As a team, Poland were 13 of 26 (50%) from three-point range.
Four other players reached double figures in scoring.
They also out-rebounded Slovenia, 41-26.
Maja Erkic had 19 points to lead her side in defeat.
The next Group A game is on September 5 when Slovenia host Finland.
