One of the top prospects for the future, Gintare Petronyte made her first steps into "big-time" basketball during the summer of 2006. Gintare, then just 17 years old, played for the first time with the senior National Team at the 2006 FIBA World Championship in Brazil where she saw action in two games. That same summer, Gintare finished the U18 European Championship as the top-rebounder (12.3 rpg) and second in block-shots (3.1), while helping Lithuania to a fifth place finish. After gaining some more experience in the EuroLeague Women with Teo Vilnius this season, Gintare is expected to play a more important role this year in Spain.
