Slovenia have yet to book their place for next year's EuroBasket Women in Italy but they can still advance via the additional qualifying tournament.
The Slovenians have never reached the finals, and they won just two of their six Division A games this summer in a group which included Turkey, Ukraine and Israel.
On Saturday, they will discover which sides they will face in second qualifying tournament and coach Boris Zrinski said: "We are aware that we have a good opportunity to make something out of ourselves.
"We face eight well-known opponents. We wish we could once again play against the Ukrainian and Israeli teams, while we do not want to face the Polish team too soon."
Poland won four of their six games but finished third in their qualifying group behind Croatia and Germany, who also had 4-2 records and advanced on tie-breakers.
"But in any way, I am confident we can beat anybody, if I have all my best players available to play," Zrinski said.
One player who will be critical for their chances is Maja Drozg, who averaged 16 points and more than eight rebounds per game in the qualifying games.
