Froehlich is now fifth in the EuroBasket Women Qualifying Round in scoring with 20 ppg and first in rebounding with 17.7.
The 188-cm forward got it going for Germany in the final minute of the quarter by reeling off three free throws to put her side up 20-9 going into the second.
She started the second quarter by drilling a three-pointer as Germany led 23-9.
Croatia finally started to get things going offensively.
Froehlich hit a three midway through the quarter to push the lead back to double-digits.
Germany would eventually go into halftime with a 39-30 lead.
Croatia went on a 12-3 run over the first six minutes of the third quarter.
Sandra Popovic, who led Croatia with 20 points, hit a three-pointer midway through the quarter to put Croatia ahead for the first time since the opening minutes of the game.
Popovic and Co would maintain a two-point lead going into the fourth.
The teams would not be separated by more than four points in the first six minutes of the final quarter.
A three by Dorothea Richter put Germany up 63-59 at the 3:03 mark and a jumper one minute later from Natalie Gohrke with 1:44 to go extended the lead to 65-59.
Germany would hold the lead until the final buzzer as Croatia committed four crucial free throws over the final 3:44 of the game.
