Slovakia continued their impressive preparations for the EuroBasket Women qualifying campaign with a thrilling 83-72 overtime win over Finland at an International tournament in Turkey.
Finland had opened up a 23-18 first half lead and remained ahead at the break after a 35-35 second period.
Slovakia hit back with a 53-58 third quarter but Finland looked to be heading for the win after opening up a 66-63 advantage with seven seconds remaining. But Zuzana Zirkova netted a last-gasp three pointer to send the game into overtime
Slovakia kept up the momentum to claim an 11-point victory following a 17-6 overtime run after claming a 82-78 victory over Sweden earlier in the tournament.
Zirkova top scored for Slovakia with 30 points and Daniela Cikosova contributed with 14 to the victory total.
Taru Tuukkanen lead the way for Finland with 21 points, while Susanna Rinta added 17 and Niina Laaksonen 9 to the team total.
Slovakia entertain Latvia on September 6 in the EuroBasket qualifiers before making the trip to Belgium seven days later. The return game against Latvia is on September 16.
Finland face Serbia & Montenegro on September 9 before a home tie in Helsinki with Romania four days later. he return game against Serbia & Montenegro in on September 20.
