Whereas Kostaki is the first Greek woman to play in the WNBA, "Evina" Maltsi is the "Greek killer". That’s the nickname her French teammates gave her in Bourges, where she played last season. She's regarded as the leader of Greece on the court and was the top scorer of the National Team during the qualifying round, averaging 24.3 points per game. “I am Greek” she answers when asked to explain her big heart. Her three-point shots can sink any rival though she has a propensity to make clutch shots just before the buzzer. In her first appearance in the EuroLeague Women, she was voted among the top rookies. A member of the European All-Star team last season, Maltsi was the top scorer for Bourges in the EuroLeague Women though her favourite personal statistic is finishing second in scoring behind Lauren Jackson at the Olympics. Unlucky in terms of club titles, her first ever trophy was at the French Federation Cup in 2007. Still, she has numerous finals and MVP titles in every league she’s played in. | |
