Sonja Petrovic is one of the most talented players on the Serbian National Team. She was a member of the U18 team which won European Gold in 2005. The following summer, her team was not as successful-losing to Spain-but she still managed to average 14.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. She played again this summer, with the U18 Serbian National Team, and took revenge, beating Spain in a re-match of last summer's final, averaging 12.3 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Her father is Rade Petrovic, ex-basketball referee who was also Secretary General of the Yugoslav Basketball Federation. Sonja plays for Universitat Barcelona, but she learned the basics of the game at Crvena Zvezda.
